Thank you very much for visiting inabana.jp as always.
I am terribly sorry for the long silence.
I would like to share what has happened over the past few months.
A series of illnesses beginning in February
My birthday falls on 14 February, and I turned 64 this year.
However, on the following day, the 15th, I caught a cold.
At first, I thought it was nothing more than a mild one.
But from the next day onwards, I began suffering from a deep, persistent cough that came from the chest. I coughed throughout the day, and whenever I lay under a warm blanket, the coughing intensified, leaving me almost unable to sleep for four or five nights.
Realising that I could not continue like this, I visited a respiratory specialist.

With treatment and medication, the coughing gradually subsided, and I was finally able to sleep again.
However, the discomfort deep inside my chest remained.
Further examinations revealed that I was on the verge of developing asthma.
My medication was changed (with the side effect of losing my sense of taste), and treatment continued.
This was the main reason why the blog had to be paused from mid‑February through March.
An unexpected finding in April
At the beginning of April, when my asthma symptoms had eased slightly, my doctor recommended a precautionary CT scan of the chest.
The results were mixed.
Although my lungs were “not in good condition but likely manageable,” the doctor added:
“The issue is not in the chest… there appears to be a shadow on the pancreas.
ー “I will write a referral letter — you should undergo detailed examinations at a larger hospital.” ー
Because the possibility of pancreatic cancer could not be ruled out, I immediately went to the Red Cross Hospital.
With the Golden Week holidays approaching, several examinations had to be scheduled in a short period of time.
This continued from 9 to 22 April.
Then, another emergency
While undergoing these tests — anxious yet hoping for the best — I was scheduled to receive the results on the evening of 23 April.
But that afternoon, I suddenly felt a strange numbness spreading through the right side of my body.
It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
Sensing danger, I asked a colleague for help and went straight to the emergency hospital.

The diagnosis was a cerebral infarction (stroke).
I was admitted immediately for emergency treatment and was discharged only recently, on 1 May.
Current condition and outlook
Fortunately, the after‑effects of the stroke have been relatively mild, though some numbness remains in my right side of the body.
The pancreatic issue also turned out to be benign, and will be monitored over time — a great relief.
However, including the asthma, I will need ongoing observation and treatment for the brain, pancreas, and lungs/bronchi.
To experience three entirely different medical issues — asthma, a pancreatic abnormality, and a stroke — all within just two and a half months was beyond anything I could have imagined.
It felt like a prolonged nightmare, or as if I were struck by a very late “yakudoshi” (unlucky year).
Although I have regained some stability since leaving the hospital, proper treatment and maintaining my health will continue for some time. Considering my age and work, I must also rethink and reorganise my daily life from the ground up.
